Car buying Tips
Decide what you want:
It’s very important to know what you want in a car as a mom. Look around; ask your friends, their experience and opinion about cars. Next important thing will be setting a budget. A new car will obviously cost a lot more than a used or salvaged one, so decide on what you want. Research well on the features you would like to opt for.
- Anchorage points for Child seats
Most cars have 3 points but some cars also provide 5 points. It is important to see where these points are located. Sometimes these are located in the boot space which means seat straps can get tangled with it and lead to problems.
- Boot Space
If your baby is an infant and you need a pram, make sure there’s enough space in the car to put the pram.
- Car Size
The most important thing to ensure is that you are perfectly comfortable in the driver’s seat and there is enough space to accommodate your baby. Make sure your visibility is not affected by anything. If you’ve got a big family, always consider buying a vehicle like a station wagon that can accommodate all.
- Storage
Storage is a major concern for moms with a newborn. The nappies, extra food and clothing you have to carry around for trips along with the toys are of major concern. A car with good storage space fixes this problem.
- Safety
When driving around with your children, safety must be your utmost priority. Make sure there are airbags in front, knee, side and even curtain airbags for safety. An anti-braking system and electronic stability program are essential safety features. The anti-braking system helps the car in stopping earlier, during tough braking conditions. The Electronic Stability program helps in sensing out of control conditions of the car and corrects it.
