There’s no doubt that the new car would have fewer problems, as compared to a used car; but it would be far more expensive. Moreover, a friend of mine who had been staying in the country for a long time suggested that buying a new car is not a great idea. I talked to a lot of people and everyone told me that the value of a used car depreciates far less than that of a new car over the same period. Therefore, buying a used car made more sense according to my needs.
Fortunately I happened to find a good used car at an online auction site. It was a Chevrolet Equinox that seemed to be in fairly good running condition. A review from Consumer Reports that is usually published in April helped me a lot to zero in on the right car. The "Good Bets in Used Cars" section of the report gave me a fair idea about the price range and size.
I started sorting cars according to my affordability. I had two options: buying the car directly from the owner or buying the car from a reputable used automobile auction site. Though I was getting a cheaper deal if I had purchased from the owner, I preferred to buy from the online auction site. The online car purchase gave me a certified vehicle. The whole process from bidding to shipping of the car was smooth. Without stepping out of the hostel, I got the car of my choice.
